The Start

The traditional Bay to Birdwood start is held at Barratt Reserve, West Beach Parks. For 2018 a second start has been introduced beginning from Civic Park, Modbury. The second start is optional for pre-1919 and military vehicles only.

Start: Barratt Reserve, West Beach Parks

Vehicles arrive from 6 am and will depart at 8.30am.

Spectators are able to meander the rows of vehicles and mingles with the citizen collector owners. Many of the vehicles are lined up in special interest groups. A variety of breakfasts are provided by community groups and local vendors at the start ahead of vehicles being flagged off at 8.30 am. It takes at least one hour for all vehicles to exit.

Second Start: Civic Park, Modbury

Optional start for pre-1919 vehicles and military vehicles.

Vehicles arrive from 7 am and will depart at 8.30am

The Atlantic Street Band will be playing live from 7am to get you in the mood with their mix of traditional Dixieland jazz (from the early 1900s) and New Orleans inspired covers of more recent songs, late 20th Century to current. We haven’t forgotten the little ones either with face painting and a jumping castle, so they can have fun, while you have that hard earn coffee from one of the cafés at Civic Park. If you need more than a coffee and are looking for a sit-down breakfast, brunch or lunch then Bake and Brew and The Pickled Duck are great options: both have a range of dishes available. The Tea Tree Gulley Men’s Shed will also be on hand, cooking up a storm with egg and bacon sandwiches and snags. There will there also be vintage vehicle displays from the National Military Vehicle Museum and The South Australian Police Historical Society.
